Alexander Kirkeby is a glassblower and designer working within material and object design. In search of unexpected tactile experiences with a deep connection to tradition he creates functional and unique objects in glass. He strives to explore functionality, develop methods of decoration and seeks a more contorted aesthetic.

Alexander Kirkeby creates one-of-a-kind glassware in his Aarhus, Denmark, workshop that does much more than just fulfill a functional need. The ideal example is this coupe, which is composed of mouth-blown crystal that is so thin that the shape can be masterfully manipulated to create the flowing silhouette. Take note of the minor details, such as the rippling surface and the textured stem that seems to have been lovingly braided, that showcase his excellent artistry.
